Georgia O'Keeffe
"I have already settled it for myself and so flattery and criticism go down the same drain and I am quite free."
I looked at Georgia O'Keeffe with my new group and after reading a short story about her, we grabbed our magnifying glasses and studied a selection of flowers. Afterwards we used watercolours and pens to draw our own versions. The challenge was to have all the petals touch each side of the paper. Everyone's piece was unique and beautiful. Then we cut apples and peppers in half and studied the pieces closely. Using oil pastels, we enlarged the fruit or veg and took time to notice as much detail as we could. It can feel difficult to draw big but the kids did really well and rose to the challenge!
